Foundation
The Company was founded by Abramo (Rami) and Raffaele (Raffi) Galante in 1989, driven by their passion for technology and innovation and their interest in the entertainment industry. The Company started it’s activity under the brand Halifax with videogame distribution, taking major international publisher’s successes to the Italian market. Some of these videogames, including Pro Evolution Soccer, Tomb Raider and Resident Evil, contributed to the creation and development of the videogame market in Italy.
Listing
In 2000, the Company was listed on the Italian Stock Exchange to fund its international growth becoming a Global Company. Today, Digital Bros is listed on the STAR segment of Borsa Italiana.
Globalization
In 2007, Digital Bros created the brand 505 Games and started a globalization process establishing a distribution network in the most important Western Countries. The Group opened new offices in US, UK, France, Germany and Spain.
Digital Innovation
Thanks to the videogame market evolution and the increased diffusion of digital contents beside traditional formats, Digital Bros grew its business and increased its presence in the videogames market mastering the digital channels marketplaces, mainly Sony, Microsoft and Steam.
Mobile and Social Revolution
As consumers started to enjoy entertainment contents on mobile platforms (smartphone and tablets) and on social channels (primarily Facebook), Digital Bros created a focused division, 505 Mobile, to deliver its game app catalogue on these new channels.
Portfolio implementation and Chinese market penetration
Digital Bros started an IP (Intellectual Property) acquisition strategy to implement its product portfolio through both studio acquisition and long-term agreements with indie studios. DR Studios, a development studio based in Milton Keynes, UK, was acquired by the Group in 2015 and is now responsible for the Free to Play operating segment. In the same year, the Company acquired a stake of 49% in Ovosonico, an Italian Development Studio than fully acquired in 2020 when it changed its name in Avangarden. Two years later, in 2017, the Group acquired Kunos Simulazioni, an indie developer headquartered in Rome.
In 2015, Digital Bros invested in China opening a new office in Shenzen. Entering the Eastern Market is part of a global strategy focused on breaking into the main emerging markets.
Digital Bros today
Digital Bros continues its global expansion and increases its presence in the Eastern Market thanks to the direct presence in China, Hong Kong and Japan.
Today the Group has a balanced and diversified portfolio of Intellectual Properties (IP) owned or deriving from long term agreements that sustain the Company’s growth and its establishment as a major player in the digital entertainment market.
